Letter's From Home is a new project for the Avatar site. A letter is such a small thing, that takes very little time. But for a deployed service member who is thousands of miles from home it can mean the world.
Show your support and appreciation for our US Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen by leaving a letter for them here. Help us to to remind our Military that they are truly never forgotten.
Member's of Adopt-A-Platoon, or anyone else, whom is supporting a deployed service member can access these letters and print them to send to their adopted service member. Further, US Military personal whom access this site will be able to view your letters of support directly.
Dear Member of the Armed Forces,
It’s difficult to think of something to say to you during this time of year that hasn’t been said a thousand times before. Though you are away from friends and family right now I know that they are going on with the routines of their lives as a testimony to you. It is because of you that we are able to celebrate this season without fear of persecution and with the knowledge that you are there to defend our freedom. While you continue in your fight for the Iraqi people and America, please know that we are keeping the home fires burning until your return.
I have been so blessed by AdoptaPlatoon to have been given the opportunity to support you during your deployment and I am grateful to you for defending my family and myself. I hope to meet you one day in the future, to shake your hand and tell you face to face what your sacrifice has meant to me. Until that day, please know that you are constantly in my thoughts and in my prayers and that there will always be a place set for you at my table. If that day never comes then know that there is one American who will always be indebted to you, will think of you often, and will wish you and your family the best in life.
A grateful American and a friend you’ve never met.
“Uncle” Marty

I want to start by saying thank you for what you do. I'm sure you have been told that 500 times, but I figure, no one can ever say thank you enough for such an amazingly brave thing you do for us every day: preserve our freedom. Whether your stateside or across the globe, I support you and your fellow soldiers! I can also rest easy at night knowing that this beautiful country is being protected by so many people that I will never know. I can never repay someone for such a noble act, but I can write just a few more times, tie some yellow ribbons around my tree, buy a magnet to support our troops, or just simply say thank you. With that said, thank you form the bottom of my heart!
My Love and Respect to you and your comrades.
Kyndra
How can I begin to describing this feeling of pride? It is nothing I've conjured up within myself. This is something that was given to me. It was offered up along side so many other gifts. Gifts that were paid for in blood, sacrifice, and even in death. The gift of freedom, liberty and love. The privilege to do as I please, speak my own thoughts, make my own choices - weather political, personal, economical, or social. This is not pride I have within myself because of myself. This is the pride I have in those who have so selflessly given those gifts to me and are serving to give them to others. In that, and more, I say THANK YOU! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart! No, words can do nothing to describe this feeling of pride I have in those who choose to wear the colors on their sleeves. Those who stand up for the gifts that have been given and will be given. Those who stand along side me to salute the flag of the United States of America. You are the very best! There's no one in the world like you and I'm so very proud of each and every one of you. Thank you!
